As Howard County Branch President Flowers has been successful at recruiting and unifying a talented group of volunteers who have recharged the Branch by creating a quarterly structure built on membership, fundraising and programs which impact the community. Under his leadership the HoCo Branch has maintained compliance with the National organization, funded ACT-SO and the Youth Council, maintained a diverse membership and expanded community partnerships to make the NAACP relevant at all levels. Key to this has been building strong relationships with the community, Howard County Public Schools, Howard County Police and key community stakeholders. The Branch has led a grassroots conference to train community organizers, hosted the first MLK 5K road race in the state of Maryland to raise money for youth programming, was successful at removing a confederate monument from public lands, created a Technology Committee for STEM advocacy, implemented Percentage Plus voter mobilization Strategy, initiated the 22-A-Day Push-Up Challenge and annual flag football game to build relationships with first responders and to promote awareness about PTSD.
